Ancestry has offered to digitize NY's vital records–and pay BVR royalties

Rather than allow the historic vital records to go on Ancestry–and be paid for it–BVR hired vendors for more than $2 million of taxpayer money to digitize them. 

BVR has spent approximately $1,000,000 on this project thus far.

There are $1,600,000 in future obligations for a contract running through 2029.
